As a modern energy and service company, Dortmunder Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH (DEW21) stands for the optimal combination of forward-looking services with the knowledge of an experienced municipal utility. Every day, DEW21 not only supplies natural gas, electricity, heat and water to the almost 600,000 inhabitants and numerous companies in and around Dortmund - with its range of various contracting models, energy efficiency services, heating and cooling market products, smart meter solutions and a variety of innovative individual solutions, DEW21 offers an "intelligent energy world" of tomorrow that goes far beyond traditional energy sales.

The Energy Institute of Johannes Kepler University, with its three departments of Energy Economics, Energy Law and Energy Technology, enables a comprehensive and interdisciplinary analysis of the future topic of energy. One research focus of the institute is the conception of smart energy systems. The optimized linking of existing components into efficient smart complete systems - both smart grids and smart cities - will be further developed at the Energy Institute.

QIVICON is an alliance of leading industrial enterprises in Germany and was initiated by Deutsche Telekom with the object of driving the topic of connected home and developing solutions for customers. Together with partners EnBW, EON, eQ-3, Miele and Samsung and other strong brands, we are developing an ecosystem that covers not only energy efficiency at home but also the areas of security, convenience and health. The first integrated offers will come to market on a multivendor platform in spring of 2013.
