Publication of open data sets from the BAFA “Einsparzähler” (ESZ) funding program

The publication is in accordance with the open data requirements of the BAFA funding program and is intended to enable the reuse of the project results in research, science, and practice.

The datasets document both electricity and heat consumption before and after the implementation of energy efficiency measures. To ensure a transparent assessment of the savings achieved, they include not only the measured consumption values but also calculated baselines. Both linear regression models and XGBoost models were used for this purpose. As a result, the data are suitable for scientific research, for comparing different baseline methods, and for the further development of methods for evaluating energy efficiency measures.

The published datasets include, among other things:

• anonymized measurement data from reference and reporting periods,

• baseline calculations using linear regression and XGBoost,

• the variables used for modeling,

• complete metadata, and a description of the methodology.

‍The published datasets support researchers, scientists, and companies in the development, validation, and comparison of methods for baseline calculation and the evaluation of energy efficiency measures.
