FAME4ME - User-oriented management of energy services in the building sector

Zum Inhalt

The changing use of energy applications (e.g. controlling heat pumps or charging points) and the variable availability of renewables in particular are creating new challenges for the building sector. The FAME4ME research project funded by the BMKW aims to respond to this and is therefore testing AI-based energy services.

In view of price fluctuations and geopolitical uncertainties in the energy supply, it is essential for the building sector to make use of smart energy applications - both to benefit more from renewable energies and to be more energy efficient in general. But where is the best place to start and which combination of energy services makes the most sense?

This is the focus of the FAME4ME research project, which is funded by the BMWK and is a sub-project of the SmartLivingNEXT project. Fraunhofer ISE, EnBW, the University of Würzburg and the service providers Countrol and GreenPocket are involved in the project. As part of the research project, energy services for private users are to be tested and improved using artificial intelligence. A particular focus will be placed on the combination of smart meters, energy management and time-variable or dynamic tariffs and the extent to which an energy management solution can be improved based on the effectiveness of the tariffs.

Energy management: concrete benefits for private customers

The development of the user-friendly app, which is based on the existing GreenPocket solution, is intended to visualize generation and consumption forecasts and provide price signals and recommendations for action to improve electricity use. These energy services will then be individualized using various AI processes.

Intelligent energy management in the relevant residential and building complexes is intended to

  • increase energy efficiency,
  • reduce energy costs,
  • increase the use of renewable energies,
  • and exploit flexibility potential in the energy grid

Detailed project planning based on use cases

Real use cases and user groups are analyzed in various workshops together with pilot customers. Based on surveys and analyses, conclusions can then be drawn to improve customer benefits. The app and the analysis processes are continuously developed using various AI methods.

The technical implementation and networking with the SmartLivingNEXT ecosystem will also test and improve the interoperability of the app on various platforms.
